    Step two: Photographic mosaic
This scaled photograph (1:50) was made keeping the camera's film plane parallel to the back wall of ahu Tahira and at a consistent distance (4 meters) and focal length (80 millimeters). Twenty-four images were stitched together to form the composite.

Scale was determined using the following formula, and expressed as a ratio:

80/4000 (focal length/distance to subject) = 1/50

NEXT STEP: Importing the photograph into ArcView for measurements and analysis.
